Study of the Cabibbo - suppressed decay modes
Using data from the FOCUS (E831) experiment at Fermilab, we present a new measurement for the branching ratios of the Cabibbo-suppressed decay modesD0 → π−π+ and D0 → K−K+. We measured: Γ(D0 → K−K+)/Γ(D0 → π−π+) = 2.81 ± 0.10(stat) ± 0.06(syst), Γ(D0 → K−K+)/Γ(D0 → K−π+) = 0.0993 ± 0.0014(stat) ± 0.0014(syst), and Γ(D0 → π−π+)/Γ(D0 → K−π+) = 0.0353 ± 0.0012(stat) ± 0.0006(syst). These values ha...

متن کاملColor Suppressed Contributions to the Decay Modes
The amplitudes for decays of the type Bd,s → Ds,dDs,d, have no factorizable contributions, while Bd,s → Ds,dD s,d, and Bd,s → D∗ s,dD s,d have relatively small factorizable contributions through the annihilation mechanism. The dominant contributions to the decay amplitudes arise from chiral loop contributions and tree level amplitudes which can be obtained in terms of soft gluon emissions formi...
متن کاملCabibbo-allowed and Doubly Cabibbo Suppressed D → Kπ Decays
For over two decades, the D → Kπ has served as a workhorse in charm and beauty physics. However, there is general interest in measuring all the D → Kπ branching fractions. In particular, while it is often assumed that B(D → K Sπ) = B(D → K Lπ), interference between D → Kπ and D → K0π can break this equality. Although this asymmetry is expected, measuring it has alluded experiments because of th...
متن کاملMeasurement of the doubly Cabibbo suppressed decay D → K+π− and a search for charm mixing
We present an analysis of the decayD0→K+π− based on FOCUS data. From a sample of 234 signal events, we find a branching ratio of Γ(D →Kπ) Γ(D0→K−π+) = (0.429 − 0.061 ± 0.027)% under the assumptions of no mixing and no CP violation. Allowing for CP violation, we find a branching ratio of (0.429 ± 0.063 ± 0.028)% and a CP asymmetry of 0.18± 0.14± 0.04. The branching ratio for the case of mixing w...
